Little Milligan Elementary School is located in the extreme northeastern section of Carter County. The school was built in the late 1940's when nearby Watauga Dam was constructed. The majestic view surrounding the school is awe-inspiring. Deer, turkey, and other wildlife are often seen feeding and playing on the nearby hillsides. This adds to the peaceful environment of study and achievement.
Being a rural school has its advantages. The students have a common heritage with their parents and grandparents because many of them also attended elementary school at Little Milligan. The staff is personally acquainted with most of the students, providing a close knit, family-type atmosphere.
The dedicated and creative staff of the school prepare the students to meet the challenges of tomorrow with confidence. Through workshops, in-services, and advanced classes, faculty at Little Milligan School continue to enhance their teaching profession.
